The Charlotte School of Law SBA Executive Board is excited to announce their adoption of a room at the new Clyde & Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter. The new shelter is set to open in December 2012 and will provide 80 housing units for women and children for up to one year.
As part of the adoption, the SBA will raise funds and collect household item donations to furnish a studio apartment at the shelter. Upon completion of the new building, students will travel to the shelter to build the furniture, decorate the room, and complete the apartment for its first new residents. The SBA will have the honor of naming the room and a plaque will remain outside of the room permanently representing the donation efforts and team name.
So how can you get involved? The SBA will be hosting various fundraisers and donation opportunities during the next month. Keep your eyes out for ways to get involved and participate in this wonderful cause.
A list of household items needed include: basic cleaning items, bath soap, coat rack, hand soap, iron, ironing board, laundry baskets, laundry detergent, mop, broom, dustpan, child safety proofing set, shampoo, conditioner, shower curtain, shower curtain rod, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel rack, twin comforters, twin sheets, towels, washcloths, high chair, trashcan for bedroom and kitchen, desk lamp, and alarm clocks.
